Phonetic:
"Al
teef'rosh atz'me'cha meen ha'tzee'bur ve'al ta'a'meen be'atz'me'cha
ad yom mot'cha."
Translation:
Don't retire from the public and don't believe in yourself until the
day you die.
Meanings:
- One
must not believe that one has arrived to such spiritual level at which
society can no longer provide assistance. Society, in spite of its
occasional seemingly disadvantages, can provide us with elements which
we might need without realizing it.
- One
must try to look and find the advantages in the company of people,
no matter if this company is chosen or imposed on him (like while
imprisonment). We must also ensure that the company of others will
not harm our freedom of thoughts and will not limit the time one needs
to be alone.
- This
understanding should lead one to the conviction that even if he feels
he has arrived at a very advanced phase in life, he should still see
himself as a pupil - until the day he dies. By being humble and acting
in a novice way, one will get the necessary inspiration from people
around him.
- The
fact that one lives now and here is not coincidental. Hence one should
act here and now accordingly, by trying to integrate with his surroundings
and society as much as possible.
