Phonetic:
"A'vot
ach'lu bo'ser, ve'shee'ney ba'nim teek'hei'na."
Translation:
The fathers have eaten raw and the teeth of the
sons will turn blunt.
Meanings:
- The
consequences of actions of parents who went foul will be inherited
to their children.
- Parents
should be aware that the results of their actions would inflict on
the lives of their children, who learn by example - looking at their
parents and 'copying' their behavior. A child who grew up in a house
surrounded by shouting parents will bear the results - knowingly or
unknowingly - and turn into a shouting person himself.
- This
phrase also insinuates that many of our wrongdoings are consequences
of spoken words. Guarding one's mouth from 'foul' and harsh words
is an advisable practice.
